Random: Orange Tuxedo

I was told I should wear a tuxedo to the formal night of SOFLEX. On a lark, I searched for and managed to find a tuxedo online that is entirely bright orange. There wasn't much of a choice, I had to get it...

I was staying with Kristin in Seattle when I found it online. Her two comments included 1) You'll probably get more than one use out of it, and 2) You wouldn't be able to forgive yourself if you didn't buy it. So purchase it I did.

I'll figure a way to add a gallery to this website, so I can post more of these pictures, but the photo above, taken by Shorty George, is probably my favorite of that night.

Just look at this masterpiece. The orange shirt is ruffled. It comes with a top hat, and a cane! (The cane didn't fit in my luggage, and they wouldn't let me carry it on the plane on my way there). Stupid stupid and ineffectual airport security. The downside is that this tux is in desperate need of tailoring. It is too large and made me look overweight when buttoned. Maybe that's why I like this picture so much.

The problem is that, while I was excited enough to tell everyone else about this, I was keeping it a surprise to the person that told me I needed to dress up. When this person found out I was going to escort her to this dance in an orange tuxedo instead of a dashing black and white one, she was not surprisingly shocked and not entirely pleased. I ordered an orange corsage so that seemed to help.

Overall, I think the tux made the splash I was hoping for, and I only heard (even second hand) about positive comments regarding it. All of my friends were in on the "joke" of my obsession with orange and thought it was perfect for me. The best reaction was the one from Lisa Marie who, after seeing me, and once she regained her composure after being stunned into silence, got down on her knees, bowing and kissing my orange shoes. She told me that I'd totally outdone myself.

It was pretty hot at the venue, so I only danced a couple times. This was good, because I spent half of the night getting my picture taken, and the other half by the bar.
